Desire Musangwa

Desire MUSANGWA is the Acting Division Manager for Food Safety Monitoring, Inspections and Licensing since August 13, 2026. He is an accomplished food safety expert with 18 years’ experience as an inspector, trainer and auditor for food industries.
His career spans the Rwanda Standards Board, where he served as Head of Market Surveillance, Imports and Industry Inspection Sections. He has also been a Division Manager for Food Assessment and Registration and an Analyst at the Rwanda FDA for the last five years, serving in a role that bridges managerial and technical functions.
He has extensive exposure to international fora for standardisation and regulation of the food sector.
He holds a Master of Science Degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Montclair State University, New Jersey, USA and a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Technology from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).
